Caples Lake fills, fish restocking commences

(7/2) One year after the El Dorado Irrigation District (district) Board of Directors declared an emergency to repair the outlet works at the Caples Lake main dam, the lake’s water level is nearly full and an ambitious fish restocking program is well underway. Visitors will find the full array of outdoor recreation activities—hiking, camping, fishing, photography, wildlife viewing, and more—that they are used to at the lake and in the surrounding area. Trophy fish released into Caples Lake
(6/25) Approximately 1,500 trophy-sized rainbow trout—totaling 9,000 pounds—were delivered to Caples Lake on Wednesday, June 24. The average fish weight was 6 pounds, with some fish weighing up to 15 pounds. More >>

For 23 years, Mike Reeves, EID's real property specialist, has been working with CAL FIRE and their teams of inmates from the Growlersburg Conservation Camp to clear and burn brush, apply herbicides, and manage vegetation on some pretty remote EID properties. More >>
